Classes

I took classes About video editing, and song writing. I wrote a song called BFF and i made it into a cd. Using a pro microphone that weigh like 20 pounds. I got piano chords to match the words, It was really hard because we only had like 5 minutes to record it and usually you would have weeks. I was gonna sing a different song, but I changed it at last minute. The video class was really fun I got to operate a professional camera, it had lie 100 buttons on it and it was really confusing.

My year

Introduction

This semester with Laurel Springs was difficult because I was at home alone, without other kids. But I liked it because I could take more breaks and eat more than the school lunch at my old school.

Highlights of the Year

I liked being in chorus. I love singing and it was cool to have it part of my school year. I was also proud of my solo at the Spring Concert. It was the opening part of the song, "Shenandoah." I really like the song a lot and it was really special to me to get to sing it. I also received a pin for participating in Chorus for the last 3 years of elementary school. I also liked doing my html. I love doing html!! It's challenging, entertaining, and educational. Perfect fit. :) I learned html off of a website called neopets.com. I learned basic things, then got more advanced, now I know lots. My blog was fun. It was a lot faster than writing it, then mailing it. I also used html in some of my blog entries. I also need to practice my typing, so that helped a lot. I also like lunches and meals. At the other school, they would give a scoop of pasta and a scoop of grapes.

Some of the recipes that came with the books to do as projects were good. Sometimes hunger can get me distracted, so eating a good sized meal helped some.

Challenges

One of the challenges were being alone. I am not the girl who can be left alone and be told to do her schoolwork. I can't work alone. It's really hard when I don't have anyone around me except my dog. Another challenge is being kinesthetic. It's hard to do schoolwork unless it's some kind of movement.

Conclusion

Overall, I liked it better than my old school. I would probably want to do it next year, but do it differently. Like do more blogging, video, more kinesthetic.

I did the perspiration project. I put two pots on a stove one with a lid, the other one didn't have a lid. I heated them for 10 minutes, then took them off the burner and put my hand over them, the one with a lid was hotter and had more moisture, after a while, the one without a lid got hotter.

I sang a song called That Girl by myself about being jealous about this popular girl. Anyway, it can be hard to sing, especially if the song has a really high note. You need more air the higher you go, Because high notes use more air. Its hard with a fast song, because there may not be as many breaks to get some air. You kinda need to learn how to save air and not blow it all out on 3 words.

Spring concert!

I did a spring concert yesterday (Tuesday May 22) I sang a solo in one of my favorite songs, Shenandoa. It was one of the most best things I've ever done. I sang

The solo I think was bad. My throat was Filled with mucus, but everyone told me that I was beautiful. That made me feel better. I love singing, and I want to record a CD soon.

Spring concert!

This is my extra credit for science. I'm growing tomato plants. They have been in their pots for about 2 weeks. As you can see, #4 and #5 have sprouted. I'm going to re-plant seeds in 1, 2, 3, and 6 because they haven't grown yet.

I think the printing press has impacted my life because it taught me how to read and introduced me to different books. Plus, it gave me textbooks, catalogs/magazines, user manuals, DVD/CD covers, cooking recipes, food ingredients, board games, money, and mail. If there were no Printing Press, there wouldn't be fast communication, junk mail, deforestation, writing communication, or mail, and a lot of people wouldn't know how to read or write. The Printing Press has made a big difference in my life over 500 years later.

I think kids are mostly different. We are treated better today than kids in the Renaissance. We have a better education, we have more rights, and we start working at the age of 16, instead of 5. But, things haven't changed. We still have back-breaking chores, and we still don't have complete control over our own lives. I'm sure glad I'm growing up as a kid today, and not in the Renaissance.

its extremely hard... hunting has no point... and cutting rain forests is cruel....... i think cutting rain forests should be illegal world wide. it ruins so much of the earth by cutting trees and burning it so the heat gets stuck in out atmosphere.

i HATE today. i have not had ONE day WORSE than this one. i cant go to one of my favorite things to do, karaoke, i couldnt go to a coffee place w/ my mom, and i really wanted to go. my brother is being SOOOO ROOD to me. i just want to run away from it all. ugh! and i cant even TALK to my mom because she left to go SOMEWHERE and have NO CLUE WHERE and she didnt bring her cell phone and i REALLY NEED TO TALK TO HER! My niche is broad. i have lived in many places and countries around the world my whole life. i have lives in wet places, tropics, dry places, almost every climate i have lived in. as long as i have a place to get veggies and fruits, and macaroni, =) hehe... i also need shelter, clothes, and my mom. maybe a tv and cellphone.

5. For this question, I have chosen option B, observing learned behavior. The activity I have chosen is to learn another language; French. My Mom will give me short daily lessons next week and I'll update my blog each day with my journal entries. I hope that I learn a lot next week in French! Au revoir!

miss you grey man

grey man is our outdoor kitty. he is like no other kitty in the world. he is sweet, cuddly, he loves to be scratched on his tummy, on his chin, and loves to eat and sleep. he is now missing, he has been gone for almost 1 month. i really hope he is in someones home being the grey man he is. if not, i hope he is in a snow cave being warm with a dead rabit head in front of him. i think he has a new family that he is living with but he has to come back .

i had no fun today. =( i dont know why but everything seems overwhelming,frustrating, gr! i would really like a smaller schedule. and a little less stuff to do. like ya. next post will be an interview of my cat and some other stuff. toodles! ♥♥♥

Social Studies Lesson 20

1) Pick a research topic for a paper due at the end of Lesson 24. I chose Castles and Castle Life because castles have always been interesting to me. It will be cool if I can make a castle for part of this, too!



2) For this item, I listened to some Gregorian Chant CDs at Amazon. I thought they were really different than the music that I listen to. It was boring and did not sound very happy to me. I am glad I live at a time where there is different music to listen to. They all sang in unison which made it sound very uninviting.

Here's a picture we found on the Internet of a page out of a Gregorian chant songbook. I like the songs we sing in chorus much better than this!

I'm going to do the rest of my vocabulary words tomorrow...and work on my map and choose a project for item #5.

Science Week 20 Family Tree Project

Today, my Mom and I worked on my family tree project. First, we looked at a family tree that my Mom's Grandma Lillian made 25 years ago. It was pretty cool. It went all the way back to 1638! Here's a picture of it...Then, I made my family tree. I went back to my great-grandparents. I wanted to try to fit it on just one sheet of paper. After looking at the other family tree, I found out they can get pretty big and complicated!

I'll be sending in my family tree with my next set of lessons. It was fun to do it. I learned there are a lot of different last names in my family tree than I knew before...Moskovita, Vernon, Larimer, Berg, Repko.

The difference between instinctive and learned behavior is that instinctive means when an animal know how to do something at birth. Learned behavior is when an animal has to be taught to do something.


An example of an instinctive behavior is when marsupials are born they go into their mother's pouches. This is what the wombat pictured below knows to do.








The second instinctive behavior is that whales swim to the surface when they are born so that they can breathe air.





An example of a learned behavior is teaching people to rollerblade.


For question #2, I'm listing everything I eat for 2 days and then I will determine if I am an herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. But, actually I already know, because I'm a vegetarian, which means I'm an herbivore...although I do eat dairy products sometimes, so I'm a sometime omnivore but NEVER a carnivore!!
